Social media creates a platform where we chat, read, make comics, create and share information and ideas ranging from pictures, jokes, write-ups, programs etc to anything that can become binary and produced into something visual mostly within a group or an online community. The Internet: the medium of achieving this activities is in it self an all encompassing society of information and interest.
This social technological aspect of humanity is fast becoming a daily activity that cannot be unscheduled from our day to day venture. This is rather common among young people and becoming more pronounced among older people as well, who are Lovers of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, to mention few of the most popular social media platforms. The idea of these platforms, sure is to bring together and connect people and create an atmosphere of reaching out without being physically present but there is more to that.
I have discovered more for myself what other values I can obtain from our varied social media platforms; educational, spiritual, skill development, creation of ideas and more insightful structure for development. Many of us are engaged in these social activities mainly for the fun of it but the ideas one can generate or discover from the diverse usefulness or importance of social media platforms cannot be over-emphasized. Below are list of some of the social boards one can use to establish for oneself an environment for development and learning in no particular order.
LinkedIn is a formal media for job acquisition and meeting personalities with great minds. Not only do you read articles for personal development a work places but also a media for diverse kind of knowledge you can acquire. From personal experience, I acquired my first formal job just by cheer confidence and courage to present myself employable. Ensure your personal profile is presentable, avoid any form of repelling post, activities and futile post or articles. Even if you don't read them, acknowledged them... If you know what I mean... It boast your reputation. LinkedIn is far more that the few points have made here, find out more yourself and you'd be impressed.
Pinterest is another wonderful social platform I find more interesting, less formal and very descriptive in details with pictures. One major interest I personally develop in this board is its specialty in skill development. One can learn various skills ranging from crafts, decorations, interior designs, clothing, sewing, embroideries to simple uncommon inventions and other unlimitless possibilities. Create a board, pin some activities and you'll have them forever to refer to always. Explore the world from the Pinterest view not just an accumulation of some clips and items for view only but learnable items.
Google+, just like LinkedIn and Pinterest is also another network of activities semiformal but detailed as well with picture, articles, infographical illustrations for work place, networks and directories. Add connections, view post and ideas of for effective communications and dealing with social circumstances and life's events.
Blogger develops your skills in writing and posting ideas and write-up for effective reading and sharing basic knowledge from point of view to everyday life situations. Blogs cannot replace a journal... A journal can be more private but blogs are more of public life and events. Hence, one's private dealings ought to be a different outlook from a blog post. There are living testimonies of notes from blogs that have changed the lives of many today. Blogs can be a gossip platform, fashion, business, personal development and other aspects of life.
Goodreads is an online community for readers and book lovers. Find books you want to read, set up a shelf to read and update books you've read. It lets you give yourself a target of reading certains book you would love to read and gives a competitive edge. If you want to boast your skill at reading and develop your reading abilities, Goodreads is a platform that boast your urge to achieving these goals.
Yahooanswers enlightens and bring to effective use of your knowledge in your field or career. You can ask questions, get points for answering other people's questions, make references in doing so and being the best/top in your class in the community of solution providers.
Edx/Coursera individually Edx and Coursera form a board for developing one's career. They're a kind of tutorial platform that one can learn, apply for interesting courses and bag a certificate for learning from reputable international schools. You learn, do assignments, even practical solutions and write exams. At the end you can acquire a certificate after intensive, sometimes one month training. It is an online schooling or an online academic institution for acquiring certified degree.
Facebook, the peak of social media career allows you to read, comment, like post, join a community or engage in lot's of online social activities. I find Facebook a platform for fun, you find funny and most surprising post of all times. Facebook also links you like pages that educates or inform your abilities in your career or field.
YouVersion -The Bible App There are no other ways to keep up with your daily life when you have several other online platforms that keep you busy from your spiritual life. The bible app helps you to keep track, you have daily devotional studies ranging from family life to helping your children grow, handing peer pressure, coping at work, and bible reading in a year.
YouTube is a video community platform, you watch wide range of video presentations from commonsensical to nonsensical... Lol. Find more interesting subscribable channels or post like cooking Channels that can help young ladies grow interesting in cooking. Psst... If you don't know how to cook eforiro vegetable stew... The access to Internet and solutions online is far more effective than being a NON-social media person in our fast-paced generations of e-explorers and Internet gurus. Apart from the above mentioned social boards, there are more interesting pages you can find in the Internet but these few ones I find personally effective for me. This is social media for you, for personal development, career success, training and let's not put aside fun too.
